Billy Sam Ottinger, 83, died Saturday, March 25, 2017 at his home in Valley View surrounded by his family.
Mr. Ottinger was born on December 5, 1933 in Justin, TX to Doc and Katie (Fanning) Ottinger. He was married to Neva Turner on April 24, 1953 in Justin, TX. He served in the United States Navy from 1955 to 1957 and earned Outstanding Sailor Aboard the Ship while serving on the USS Alvin C. Cockrell. Billy surrendered his heart to Christ in 1973 and has been a faithful servant to the Lord in many capacities including being a deacon, RA leader, SS teacher to all ages and witnessing to as many people as he could. He owned and operated Turner and Ottinger service station in Crossroads from 1960 to 1975 and retired from CoServ and was a welder for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Neva W. Ottinger of Valley View; son, Brett Ottinger and his wife Stephenia of Valley View, TX; sister, Shirley Johnson and her husband Max of Hurst, TX; brother, Charles Ottinger and his wife Shirley of Granbury, TX; grandsons, Craig Ottinger and his wife Michelle, Monty Ottinger and his wife Kara, Luke Ottinger; great-grandchildren, Kaeden Ottinger, Gunner Ottinger, Gatlin Ottinger, Kylee Ottinger, Brody Praeger, Jaxon Praeger, Shelby Praeger. He was preceded in death by a sister, Imogene Horton and brother, Thurman Ottinger.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, March 27, 2017 at Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton. The funeral service will be held at 9:30 AM Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at the First Baptist Church of Krugerville, 5021 US Hwy 377, Aubrey, TX. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Cross Roads, TX. Rev. Sam Redfearn and Rev. Ronnie Shelby will officiate the service.
The family wants to give a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Paul Bhangoo, Dr. Carlos Cruz, Dr. Gary Fazio and the entire staff of Trio Home Health for their excellent care of "B" during these last years.
