Obituary

. Billy Wayne Hammett,84 of Antlers, Oklahoma a former resident of Denton, Texas, passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2012 at his home. He was born October 1, 1928 in Denton to William Gillis and Berva Dove (Nimmo) Hammett. He was the Owner of Billy Hammett Fire Wood Yard in Denton. He attended Denton Public Schools. He served in the U S Navy aboard he U.S.S. Allagash.

Mr. Hammett is survived by a daughter, Tina Ann Hammett of Denton, son and daughter-in-law Gary and Linda Hammett of Aubrey, TX, Daughter-in-Law Debra Hammett of Burleson, Sisters Dean Padgett of Krum, and Betty H. Engle of Harlingen, brother Roy B. Hammett of Happy, TX, Two Grandchildren Jennifer Moores, and Amy Jo Hammett, and three Great Grandchildren, and other extended family members.

Billy was preceded in death by his son Floyd Eugene Hammett.

A Funeral service will be held at1:00 P.M. Saturday, September 29, 2012 in the Chapel of Gateway United Baptist Church, 2401 N. Bell Ave. Denton, TX with Rev. Robert Weeks and Rev. Buddy Owens, officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Alton Cemetery. The family will be at the Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton, for visitation on Friday, September 28, 2012 from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. .
