Billy Kay Richardson "Bill", age 75, of Double Oak, TX, passed away, Saturday, September 6, 2008. He was born March 27, 1933 in Albany, KY to Ruel and Bonnie Richardson. He married Joan Grantham December 28, 1963 at Richards Gebaur Air Force Base in MO. He served in the U.S. Navy and was stationed on the U.S.S. Des Moines in the Mediterranean. He attended Berea College in KY. He received a master's degree from the University of Illinois and a doctorate from the University of Iowa. He was a professor at the University of North Texas for 19 years in the School of Community Service, before his retirement. He was also a licensed psychologist, dedicated to serving the lives of disabled individuals. Over the years he received numerous national research awards in the area of Rehabilitation Counseling. During 1996-1997 he served as president of the American Rehabilitation Counseling Association. In 1997 he received the University of Iowa Distinguished Alumnus Award. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Joan of Double Oak; daughters, Teresa Richardson of Sanger, TX and Mary Ali and husband Faiz of Garland, TX; numerous cousins in KY, TN and FL. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jacqueline Richardson on June 15, 2008. Bill was a member of Creekwood Christian Church in Flower Mound, TX. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at Creekwood Christian Church in Flower Mound. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton.
