Obituary

Billie Ann (Blankenship) Taylor of Denton, TX, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the age of 94.  She was born November 14, 1930, in Nocona, Texas.  Her parents were William (Bill) and Bessie Blankenship.  She graduated from Istrouma High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 1948 and attended North Texas State Teacher's College (now University of North Texas).

She married Jerry Walden Taylor on June 17, 1950 at Highland Baptist Church.  They were blessed with three children, Beth Elaine (Apol), Dale Onis (Taylor) and Amy Lynn (Fuller). They faithfully raised their children in church and were involved in each of the churches; Highland Baptist Church and Hillcrest Baptist Church until the children were raised and then First Baptist Church, Denton.  After the passing of her husband, Jerry, Billie made Gateway Baptist Church her church home.

Billie was the bookkeeper for their plumbing business, Jerry Taylor Plumbing, for many years.   Around 1970, she began work at Denton Independent School District driving a bus and working in the transportation office.  She subsequently worked as a school aide at Hodge Elementary School until her retirement.

Billie enjoyed all types of sewing.  She made lots of clothes and quilts while also teaching her two daughters to sew.  Billie was involved in her church and helped with meals and always sang in the choir. She enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and always looked forward to seeing the great-grandkids when they would come to visit.

Billie is survived by her daughters Beth (Mark) Apol, Amy (Brad) Fuller and her son Dale (Debbie) Taylor; her brothers Glenn (Melba) Blankenship and Jack Blankenship; her grandchildren, Jeff (Angella) Apol, Laura (Ben) Eisenga, Brett (Kristin) Fuller, Lindsey Buonassissi, Allison (Rhett) Hasserd and Katie (Jay) McKendall.  She is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Billie was preceded in death by her parents, William (Billy) and Bessie Mae Tasker Blankenship, her husband Jerry Walden Taylor, her sister Florence Dayle Stockton and her brother George Henry Blankenship.
