Obituary

Billie Joe \"B.J.\" Burnett, 73, of Ponder, died Saturday March 26, 2005 at Denton Community Hospital.

Mr. Burnett was born July 26, 1931 in Causey, New Mexico to Lemuel Richard and Harriet Ellilan (Cross) Burnett. He graduated Denton High School in 1946 and later graduated from Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania. He served in the U S Air Force from 1951-1954. He was Certified Public Accountant with American Science and Engineering, Cambridge, MA, and retired as a Treasurer in January 1986. And currently was employed by Hankins and Powers, Denton Texas, during tax season. He was a member of Towne North Baptist Church and had served as the church Financial Secretary. He also had served as Financial Secretary of First Church Nashua, NH for 15 years. He was married to Ruth Bell on January, 29, 1955 in Wesleyville, Pa. Ruth died November 16, 1993 and then he married Freddie Jane Amyx Vaughan on April 13, 1996 in Denton.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday March 29, 2005 at Towne North Baptist Church. Rev. Ken Gray and Rev. Buddy Owens will officiate the service. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday March 28 at the funeral home. Interment will be at Edgewood Cemetery, Nashua, NH.

Pallbearers will be: Johnny Laird, Gary Pirkle, Ed Slimp, James Carty, Archie Ragland, Paul Reed, Rick Hilliard, and Curtis Stanley.

Survivors include his wife, Freddie Jane Burnett of Denton; daughters and sons-in-law, Beth and Danny McMullen of Nashua, NH, Linda and Russell Cannon of Amherst, NH, Lisa and Richard Camarata of Frisco; son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Wanda Burnett of Nashua, NH; brother and sister-in-law, Thomas Harry and Rosie Burnett of Milton, Florida; seven grandchildren, Dana Burnett, Joey Burnett, Ian Finn Cannon, Liz Cannon, Jonathan Ball, Stephen Ball, and Timothy Ball. Preceded in death by a sister Mary Joyce Reichert, and brother Price George Burnett
