Bill G. Tarkington, long time resident of Argyle, Texas passed away after a courageous battle with Shy Dragger disease on Tuesday, June 21, 2005, at Denton Regional Medical Center.
Bill was born in North Little Rock, Arkansas on October 5, 1930 to Mr. and Mrs. William B. Tarkington. As a boy he was active in Boy Scouts and later in life was Chairman of the Scout Committee at the First Baptist Church in Denton, Texas. He was a graduate of North Little Rock High School in 1948, attended Central College and later graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1958 with a BSBA. He married the love of his life Miss Helen Dale Tims on December 20, 1953.
Bill enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and later enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was a Veteran of the Korean War serving with the United States Air Force. Upon graduation he was a sales engineer with the Mine Safety Appliances Corporation and later with The Crosby Group, Inc. where he spent 32 years.
Bill was a Sunday School teacher for many years to the youth. Bill Tarkington also was a Free Mason. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Helen Dale Tarkington of Argyle, his son Tim and his wife Regena and two grandsons Tyler and Cory of Grapevine, Texas, his sister Sarah Tucker of Holly Lake, Texas, two nieces and two nephews and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Thursday, June 23 at the Cindy Nichols Chapel, First Baptist Church of Denton, where he served as deacon. Dr. Jimmie Naugher and Rev. Cliff Feeler will officiate. Bureial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will take place at the Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home from 7 – 8:30 pm on Wednesday, June 22.
