Betty Conkling, 78, of Denton, died Friday February 10, 2017 at the James L. West Hospice House in Fort Worth.
Mrs. Conkling was born on December 22, 1938 in Hollis, OK to Jeff and Mary (McCutchen) Ellis. She was married to Charles Henry Conkling in 1960 in Hollis, OK; he died on January 14, 2001. She graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor in Elementary Education. She taught for many years in Ryan, Ok and in Denton. She was a member of the Sherman Drive Church of Christ.
Betty Conkling was known by family and friends as a kind-hearted lady who continually reached out to others with her paintings, hand-written cards, and words of encouragement.
She is survived by her daughters, Karona Drummond of Denton, Esther Marie Conkling of Denton; brother, Arthur Ellis of Tucumcari, NM; grandchildren, Jonathan Drummond, Karissa Drummond. She was preceded in death by her sister, Virginia France.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, February 17, 2017 at Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust St., Denton. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 18, 2017 at the Sherman Drive Church of Christ, 2321 E. Sherman Dr., Denton. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
