Bessie Avis Morris

Bessie A. Morris, 96, a resident of The Vintage Health Care facility since 2007, passed away peacefully in her sleep Saturday, January 24, 2009. She was born January 25, 1913 in Cleburne, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years Otis T. Morris, her son Clyde Duane Morris and her grandson Gary Duane Morris.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Collette and Lo Jordan , a granddaughter Synthia Morris of Colorado Springs, Colorado, grandson Stacy Brownrigg and his wife Camilla of Coppell, Texas, and five great grandchildren, Ashley, Amber and Matthew Morris, Denton, and Scott and Megan Brownrigg, Coppell.

Mrs. Morris had a long life and lovingly embraced her family and many friends. She was a founding member of Denton Baptist Temple and regularly attended services until her move to The Vintage. She was a devoted friend to the Denton Fire Department, especially those in Fire Station #5 across the street from her house.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, January 29, 2009 in the Chapel of Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton, with Junior Norris, Officiating.  Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.  The family will be at the Funeral Home for visitation on Wednesday, January 28,2009 fo rvisitation.+

Mrs. Morris specifically asked that no flowers be sent and donations made to the Fire Cats, Denton Fire Dept. #1, 332 E. Hickory St., Denton, TX 76201.
