Bernice Leal, 74, of Denton, passed away on September 8, 2009 at her home. She was born September 25, 1934 in Denton, TX to Andrew Eddie and Alice  Mable (Cunningham) Scott. She was married to Ildefonso "Poncho" Leal on October 10, 1970 in Denton. She was a homemaker and member of the Central Baptist Church.

A funeral service will be held at 10 A.M. Saturday, September 12, 2009 in the Central Baptist Church, 2221 N. Carroll Blvd., Denton, with Rev. Paul Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Park. The family will be at the Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton on Friday, September 11, 2009 from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. for visitation.

Mrs. Leal is survived by her husband, Poncho Leal; daughters, Mary Johnson,  Beverly Lefler, Sherry Turnage, and Lori Walden; sons, Russell Walden, and Scotty Leal, all of Denton, TX; sisters,  Mary Matheson of North Richland Hills, TX, Geraldine Puente of Fort Worth, Shirley Chasteen of Denton, Darlene Gray and Glenda White of Gainesville; brothers, Austin Ray Scott of Gainesville, and Andrew Eddie William Scott of Denton, TX; twenty five grandchildren; thirty five great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Alice (Jan) Collins.
