Obituary

Bennye Wayne Nobles Reid Breeden, 88, of Denton, TX passed away on Friday, April 30, 2010 at her home. She was born December 24, 1921 in Decatur, Texas to Victor and Barbara (Street) Nobles. She was a graduate of Wichita Falls High School and attended Midwestern University. She married Billy Ray "Slick" Reid in Bridgeport, Texas, prior to his enlistment with the Marine Corps in 1942. After the war, they lived in Bridgeport and Fort Worth. They had two children, Michael V. Reid and Melinda Ray Reid. Bennye retired from the Texas Rehabilitation Commission where she had many wonderful friends. She rekindled a childhood friendship with Dr. Leon Breeden, director of the University of North Texas's One O'Clock Lab Band, and they were married in 1990. She moved to Leon's home in Denton, Texas, where she remained until her death. She is a member of the Denton Bible Church.

Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 in the chapel of Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton with Rev. Tommy Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton. Visitation will be from 1 P.M. until 2 P.M. Tuesday, before the service.

Mrs. Breeden is survived by her husband, Dr. Leon Breeden; her son, Mike Reid of Pickton, Texas along with his wife Carol; and her daughter, Melinda Shockley of Hurst, Texas along with her husband, David; stepdaughter, Vicki Breeden of Denton. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Zeb Shockley and Hannah Shockley, both of Hurst, Texas.
