Ben Lyndol Thurman, 79, of Gainesville, died Friday, November 6, 2015 at his home in Gainesville.
Mr. Thurman was born on March 26, 1936 in Denton to Ben James and Loyce Evelyn (Hampton) Thurman. He served in the United States Army after WWII during the occupation of Germany and continued to serve for many years. He had a fearless nature regarding his lifelong career as a police officer.
Ben is survived by his children, Mike Thurman of Denton, Becky Ambrose of Fort Worth, Karyn Sawers of Denton, Travis Thurman of Novi, MI, Rocky Thurman of Palm Harbor, FL; sister, Joy Chumney of Hamilton; twelve grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Sunday November 8, 2015 at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday November 9, 2015 in the chapel of Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton. Rev. Richard Leathers will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Bourland Cemetery in Keller.
