Obituary

Bella Loccisano, 94, of Denton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Denton Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
Bella was born on January 17, 1924 in Middlesex, New Jersey to Joseph and Angela (Darrigo) DiMura. She married Otto Loccisano on May 10, 1941 in Middlesex, NJ where they lived until 1980 when they relocated to Denton to be closer to their grandchildren.
Bella worked in the cafeteria at Sam Houston Elementary School from 1984 until she finally retired at the age of 83 in 2007. She loved the students at Sam Houston almost as much as she loved her job and spoke fondly about all of "her" children. It was a point of pride for her that no student ever went without lunch on her watch even if that meant paying for lunches out of her own pocket. She quickly became a favorite with the teachers when she made the menu "her way" as she was a fabulous cook and baker. Bella's platters piled sky-high with dozens of varieties of Christmas cookies are the stuff of legends and hold an important place in the holiday memories of many.
True to her Italian heritage, Bella showed her love through cooking and was more than generous with that delicious food. She loved fiercely those fortunate enough to know her in any capacity, and their waistlines are a testament to that love.
The funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 633 Hobson Lane, Denton, where the Reverend Dr. Jim Bowden will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park where she will join her husband, Otto, who passed on June 26, 1990. Her loved ones will miss her dearly but in the years since his death, Bella made it clear to all who would listen that she was anxious to be reunited with the love of her life.
Bella is survived by her son, Dennis Loccisano and his wife Cathy of Denton; sister, Clara Sadowski of Middlesex, NJ; grandchildren, Andrea Massey and her husband James, and Chris Loccisano; great-grandchildren, Sarah Catherine Massey and Mary Grace Massey.
Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 633 Hobson Lane, Denton, TX 76205.
