Barbie Backues Dane passed away in Denton, TX on January 5, 2023. She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.
Barbie was born in Booneville, Missouri to Harold and Maxine Backues. She graduated from Fulton High School in 1976 and moved to Texas with her husband in 1979. Barb embraced her new home state and grew to love all things Texas. After working at various jobs, she settled at the Denton County Department of Probation and Parole where she retired with honors after more than 30 years.
Her many hobbies included quilting, photography, crafting and sports. She was an avid gardener and achieved Master Gardner status in 2019. She was also an accomplished musician and for many years served as pianist and in several other capacities at her church. Barb was an avid fan of the Dallas Stars and supported them through thick and thin. But her greatest treasure was her sweet dog, Sophie.
She loved the Lord Jesus Christ and lived to give Him glory. Barbie is preceded in death by her father Harold Backues. She is survived by her mom Maxine Backues, sisters Becky Grace, Beverly Elrod, brother Brad with his wife Michelle, and numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind special friends Julie & Ricky Hale, Tate Vinson and her God Sons Kevin & Jeffrey Hale.
Graveside services will be at Cooper Creek Cemetery at 10:30am on January 28 th , 2023.
