IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Barbara Ann
Sanders
August 23, 1941 – August 6, 2022
Barbara "Barbie" Ann Sanders of Denton, TX died at 80 years of age on August 6, 2022. She passed away at home just as she wished with her family by her side.
She was born on August 23, 1941 in Quanah, TX to Clarence and Nora (Murphy) Weathersby. At the young age of fifteen, she eloped to Durant, OK and married Rabon "Ray" E. Sanders on April 20, 1957. Ray and Barbara shared a lifetime legacy of love with 65 years of marriage.
Barbara is survived by her devoted husband, Ray Sanders of Denton; sons, Douglas Edward Sanders of Denton, Brian Dwayne Sanders of Carrollton; daughter, Deborah D. Wells of Celina; sister, Joyce Echlund of Sanger; brother, William Weathersby of Lubbock; grandchildren, Cayla Raymer, Cheryl Sanders, Dustin Edward Sanders, Ethan Ray Sanders, Brianna Wells, Alyssa Ann Wells; great-grandchildren, Brooke Raymer, Jenna Raymer, Dominic Sanders, Ainsley Sanders, Carter Twito.
Barbara was the steadfast anchor of the family, a cherished wife, an adored mom, and a blessed Granna. Her bright smile, warm heart, and feisty spirit endeared everyone to her. Even though she didn't care much for cooking, she always wanted to make sure you had plenty to eat. If you were taking her photo, you better capture "her good side" and she was often called "a hoot" because she had a knack for making others laugh.
She was a devoted Christ follower who loved sharing the truth of God's word and was an example of God's grace to all. She had a resilient determination to not take "no" for an answer as she overcame many obstacles in her path to achieve her goals. Barbara was an encourager of dreams, a woman of strength, and a fierce fighter. No doubt as she entered the gates of heaven, she heard the Lord say, "Welcome home my good and faithful servant."
Family and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at 10:30 AM Thursday, August 11, 2022 in the chapel of Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust St., Denton. Interment will follow at 3:00 PM at Salem Cemetery, Alba, TX.
" Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all. Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. "
