Obituary
Barbara H. Jackson was born March 16, 1924, and died April 10, 2011, at Denton Rehabilitation Center.
Barbara's parents were Dr. C. H. Hancock and Inez M. Hancock. Barbara graduated from Denton High School as Valedictorian of her class. She received her B.S. from TWU in 1945 and her M.S. in 1962.
Barbara taught at the TWU Nursery School for 34 years, retiring in 1986 as Assistant Professor in the Child Development and Family Living Department and Director of the TWU Nursery School.
She was a member of Ariel Club, Modern Era Dept., and St. Andrew Presbyterian Church.
Barbara married Hal Jackson on November 14, 1942. Their wedding was the first one held in the Sanctuary of St. Andrew, as it stands today.
She was predeceased in death by her husband; daughter, Susan Jackson; and parents.
Barbara is survived by her "Special Family," Mary Ann Fortenberry, and Margaret Duncan and her sons, Hal Duncan and Charles Alan Works, all of Denton. Barbara had no immediate family.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Denton, 300 W. Oak St. Denton, with Rev. Steve Plunkett, officiating..
