Ava Rose Flanagan

9/2/1925 – 11/16/2021

Ava Rose Flanagan was born September 2, 1925 in Canton, Texas to Una Mae McLemore and Paul Tilman Mann. The Lord called Ava home on November 16, 2021.

Ava grew up in Canton, Texas. She graduated from Canton High School in 1942 and attended Business School in Dallas.  Her first job was in the film industry, where she met Emma Estelle Flanagan. Emma had a son serving in the Navy overseas and she encouraged Ava to begin writing him. Over 8 months and countless letters, Thomas Richard (Dick) Flanagan and Ava established a friendship that blossomed into the love of her life. Ava and Dick married on January 1, 1947. They had two daughters, Paula and Cathy.  Ava had a true servants heart and worked as a church secretary for more than 50 years.  She retired at the age of 81. Ava was a Godly woman with unwavering faith.

She is preceeded in death by her parents, her siblings; Irby, H.C., John Paul, Jerry, Jean and her husband.

She is survived by her daughters, Paula (David) and Cathy (Sid), her brother Bill (Chris), her grandchildren Travers (Mike), Staci (Elisha), Candace (Josh), and Casey, and her great-grandchildren Tucker, Carson, Britt, Brynnli,, Autumn, Reagan and Peyton.

Ava's service will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home in Denton, Texas.  The family will have a private burial at Laurel Land in Dallas.
