Obituary

Austin Andrew Pruett
Fifteen months after receiving his new heart, God chose to heal Austin fully when he called him home to Heaven unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 27, 2010.
Austin was born on July 21, 1997 and committed his life Jesus Christ when he was just five years old. He was wise beyond his years and had an amazing faith in God that encouraged everyone around him. He was very quick witted and recently reminded us all "I'm not short, I'm "fun-sized". He was a seventh grader at Crownover Middle School & while he wasn't able to play football, he was thrilled that they let him be a coaches' assistant this year. He was a huge Texas Longhorns fan and often bragged that he bled burnt orange and that his birth heart was the shape of Texas. He celebrated the one year anniversary of his new heart with a Taco Bueno party with the "World's Best Transplant Team", at Children's Medical Center Dallas. One month later, Austin's lifelong wish was granted when he got to meet WWE Superstar, John Cena, in Boston. At the end of the night, he said it was "everything he dreamed of and more" as he grinned from ear to ear. It was the happiest time of his life.
Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Steve & Paula Pruett, the best big brother ever, Tyler Pruett, his Nana, Sandra Pruett of Corinth, TX, his Granny, Carrie Franks of Shreveport, LA, his Nany, Elizabeth Pope of Lake Dallas, TX, his Gammaw, Christene Hoob of Shreveport, LA and many more relatives and friends. He will also be greatly missed by his beloved Chihuahua, Coco and sidekicks, Beaux & Sugar.
Southmont Baptist Church will host the visitation on Friday, October 29, 2010 from 6-8pm and the funeral on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at 11am, officiated by Dr. Larry Reynolds and Rev. Chris Ratley. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetary. Pallbearers will be Tyler Pruett, Don Walker, Trey Pergoy, Matt Cox, Bradlee Figart and Logan Franks.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation will be accepting donations at each service or you may make donations to the Austin Pruett Benefit Fund at Denton Area Teacher's Credit Union (DATCU). Austin once asked if it would be possible for him to be an organ donor someday and while he wasn't able to donate most of his organs because of the anti-rejection meds, he was able to donate his one good eye. We know Austin would be honored if you'd consider joining him in giving the gift of life by signing up to be an organ donor at www.taylorsgift.org
