Arthur F. Gregory
Arthur F. Gregory Jr. of Krum passed from his earthly confines on Tuesday, December 21 at Denton, Texas. He was born in Itasca, Texas on July 25, 1928 to Arthur Farron Gregory and Effie Lacey Gregory.
His childhood and young adult years were spent in Brownwood, where he attended ward school, played high school football, drank coffee at the Yellow Wagon Café and learned to cowboy. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1955 and was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri and in the Azores.
Arthur made his living working on the asphalt crews which built public and private highways all over the State of Texas. He also worked locally for Jagoe Public and Larry Manning, Inc. After his retirement in 1990 he worked seasonally for the City of Denton as part of the streets and drainage crew.
He leaves behind his wife of 28 years, Nancy Franke, his daughter Kay Acosta and son Bryan Gregory. He also leaves his stepchildren Kurt Franke and Tola Franke Plusnick. Others surviving "Papa" are his grandchildren Brandi Wood, Alex Gregory, John Gregory, Jason and Lyndsay Franke and William, Matthew and Makenzie Plusnick. Arthur was predeceased by his parents, his sister Virginia Gregory Shuffield , his son Arthur and two grandsons.
A memorial celebration of Arthur's life, under the direction of Rev. Dr. Christy Thomas, will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 28. The memorial service and following reception will be held at Krum United Methodist Church, 1001 E McCart, Krum. The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Denton Community Food Center, 109 W. Sycamore, Denton, TX. 76201.
