Annie Jo was born on April 15, 1929 to Frank and Irene Whiteside Deupree.    Annie Jo taught at the University of Connecticut, Southern Connecticut University, Southwest Texas State University, Louisiana Tech University, Midwestern State University, Lewisville ISD, Wichita Falls ISD and Dallas ISD.  Annnie Jo earned her Bachelor and Master degrees from the University of North Texas and her Ph.D in 1961 from Texas Womans University.

In 1981 UNT named Annie Outstanding Recreation and Leisure Studies graduate.

Annie Jo possessed an abundant amount of moral courage. She would confront incompetence, wrong doing and unfairness with colleagues and superiors alike.

Annie asked to be buried with the ashes of her irrepressible Maltese dog, Puddin.

Once when Puddin needed an MRI, Annie was off to the specialized vet clinic without hesitation.

How blessed we have been by the courage, generosity, loyalty and tenacity of Annie Jo Deupree.

Annie Jo is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Frank Deupree, Jr.

Annie Jo died February 19, 2019. A celebration of Annie's life will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Ascension Episcopal Church, 8787 Greenville Ave. Dallas, Tx  75243.  Any remembrances may be sent to Ascension.
