Obituary

ANDREI BIVOL

Andrei Bivol, age 74, of Frisco, TX went into cardiac arrest and passed away on September 14, 2022. In just a few short months prior to his death, he was hospitalized with Covid19 and simultaneously diagnosed with congestive heart failure. It was all too much to bear, but God had mercy on his family and Andrei survived his two-week hospitalization, responded to the Gospel, yet he never fully recovered, and his heart was simply too weak to sustain life.

Andrei Bivol was born in 1948 in Costești, Ialoveni, the Republic of Moldova the year of the terrible famine in Moldova, part of the former Soviet Union. The country was rebuilding after WW2, and it was a period of darkness and great terror under Stalin. Andrei was the oldest of 8 children, and at the age of 20, he lost his own father. Andrei's dreams of continuing his education were shattered as he had to step up to help raise his younger siblings, the youngest one being 1 yr. old. Those were difficult times, times of severe poverty and suffering. In 1973 he married Maria Levinte, a nurse, also of Costești, Moldova, and together they raised four daughters and celebrated their 49 th anniversary this year. He built his own house, got a degree in electrical engineering, and worked various jobs, including truck driver and manager at the same company, and appointed district alderman for the district of Ialoveni. When the Soviet Union collapsed, Andrei lost his life's savings and eventually his job. He never fully recovered from that. Times got a lot tougher, and poverty set in again. Eventually, all 4 of his daughters came to the US to continue their education and years later Andrei and Maria joined their daughters in the US to live in Frisco, TX. At the age of 74, Andrei was still working two part time jobs. He had a great sense of humor, loved to play chess and checkers, loved gardening and fixing things, loved growing grapes and making his own wine, and he absolutely loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Andrei was preceded in death by his father Grigore Bivol, his mother Maria Mereacre, his sister Nina Tamazlâcaru, and his brother Toader Calmâc. He is survived by his wife Maria Levinte, his daughter Ludmilla Duston (David Duston) of Frisco, TX and grandchildren David (16), Sebastian (6); his daughter Elena Brewer (Erik Brewer) of California, MD and grandchildren Evangelyn (14), Emmanuel (12) and Elizabeth (9); his daughters Lucia Bivol and Olga Bivol, both of Frisco, TX.

Andrei is also survived by his brother Tudor Bivol (Elena), brother Constantin Bivol, sister Agafia Bivol, sister Feodosia Bognibov (Grigorie), Gheorghe Bivol (Efimia), Ion Bivol (Maria) and 12 nephews and nieces.
