Andrea Elizabeth Calloway

Andrea Elizabeth Calloway (née Silvia) passed away on July 27, 2026, in Plano, Texas, at the age of 79. Born on August 23, 1946, in Fall River, Massachusetts, Andrea was raised by her parents, Walter Silvia and Louise Doolin, in a proud Portuguese family.

Andrea lived with strength, conviction, and a deep commitment to helping others. As a volunteer with CASA of Denton County, she advocated for children facing difficult circumstances and was named Volunteer of the Year multiple times. Her colleagues remember her as “the best—and the one to give the toughest cases to.”

Andrea met her husband, Steve Calloway, on a tennis court. After spending one nearly inseparable week together, she accepted his marriage proposal. Their love story continued through 46 years of marriage, parted only by death.

Andrea supported the family while Steve completed college and enlisted in the United States Air Force. Together they adopted Joshua from South Korea at age three. They also welcomed Steve’s niece, Lorra Bagley, into their home, providing safety and stability during a difficult time. Later, they adopted Angie and Sarah from South Korea at ages 12 and 10.

Their military journey took the family to Manila, Philippines; Bitburg, Germany; Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; and finally Corinth, Texas. Wherever they lived, Andrea created a home grounded in faith, family, love, and service.

Andrea formed lasting friendships everywhere she went. People enjoyed sharing a glass of wine with her, but they especially respected her strong character and devotion to her church, family, and community.

To me, Andrea—Mom—will forever be remembered as a great mother. Since her passing, I have heard others describe her as a great woman. Both are true, and her strength, compassion, and remarkable spirit will live on in the many lives she touched.
