Alvin Pair (1930 - 2017)
On Dec. 11, 2017, just one day after his 65th wedding anniversary, Alvin Pair (known to everyone as Buddy) suffered a severe, nearly fatal stroke. He was rushed by helicopter to Medical City Plano, where he passed away on the 13th with his bride at his bedside.
He was 87 and his absence will be deeply felt by all those he loved.
Buddy is survived by his wife Lanelle, his son Terry of Dallas, and his granddaughter Elsa who is a student at the University of Houston. He also has one surviving sibling, Mildred Corine Hyde in Kansas.
He loved horses, adored babies, despised dishonesty and hated to see people mistreated. He was deeply devoted to his wife and family. He was a masterful domino player, an excellent horseman and a committed follower of Christ.
A lifelong resident of Denton County, Buddy was raised on a farm with 11 siblings and lived in the same house on Oakwood Drive in Denton for seven decades. His last several months were spent at Corinth Rehab, where he had been placed due to dementia.
Buddy retired in 1992 from the University of North Texas as supervisor of the grounds department, where he was widely respected.
He was a strong but gentle presence whose life blessed all those around him.
Visitation will be Monday, December 18, 2017 at 5pm until 8pm, the funeral Service will be on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at 2 pm. all services will be at the Denton Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Denton, Texas. Interment will follow the service on December 19, 2017 at the Prairie Mound Cemetery in Argyle Texas.
