Alvin J. Faulkner Jr. (Sonny)

Sonny Faulkner, 70, passed away on Feb. 24, 2023 peacefully in Corinth. He was born in Big Spring, Texas in 1952. His parents were Alvin Faulkner Sr. and Virginia Garrison Faulkner of Decatur.
Sonny graduated from Decatur High in 1970 and attended North Texas State University. He married Betty Jo Florida, March 9, 1974 in Greenwood, Texas. They were married nearly 49 years and had one daughter, Jennifer. Sonny was her first golf coach and they spent many hours together on the golf course.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Linda Maddux of Decatur and Alla Lou Little of Fort Worth. Sonny is survived by his wife, Jo of Corinth, and daughter, Jennifer of Grand Prairie, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Sonny retired from Verizon in 2003, after 30 years of service. He was an organ donor and avid fisherman who loved Lake Ray Roberts. Sonny also was a Mavericks fan and loved to sit outside to chat with neighbors and share gardening tips. He also loved kids in the neighborhood and was known as Bubble Man who often shared treats. He was a devoted husband, father, and friend who is deeply missed.
A celebration of Sonny's life will be held Sunday, March 26, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the family home.
