Obituary

Alice Audrey Miller, aged 98, was born August 9, 1917 to George and Nannie Staggs in Frisco, Texas. She passed from this life to be with her Lord and Savior on May 28th 2016.
Alice and her husband, Oscar, lived the majority of their married life in Denton, TX where they were very active members of the First Baptist Church in Denton where she taught Sunday School for many years. She also loved to bake Amish bread and take it with her when she visited the homebound. After moving to Garland, Alice became an active member of First Baptist Church in Garland and loved the fellowship with her brothers and sisters in Christ. She was a joy to be around and always brought a smile to those who talked with her. Alice loved helping people which is why, after raising two children, she went back to school and became a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) where her cheerful personality and knack for helping others benefited many.
Her favorite pastime was sewing. She made clothes for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and most beds in the family have beautiful quilts hand-made by Alice. She also loved to cook. She started cooking at a very early age and could provide a wonderful meal for a large number of people at a moment's notice. But her specialty, for those in the family with a sweet tooth, was the many varieties of candy she would spend weeks making at Christmas.
She married Oscar Miller on May 14, 1936 who preceded her in death in 2002. She was also preceded in death by her parents, George and Nannie Staggs, her sister Rose Jerden, and her brother, Wesley Staggs.
She is survived by her daughter Geraldine Strong and her husband Darrell, son Lawrence Miller and his wife Kay, her grandchildren Mike Strong and his wife Sheri, Jerri Strong Cozart and her husband Steve, Donna Reeves, Larry Miller and his wife DeLynn, and Latisha Black. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Chris Strong, Kelley Strong Gomez and her husband Jose, Rebecca Reeves, Rachel Reeves, Reagan Alcorn and her husband Chris, Collin Miller, Tiffani Black, Tyler Black, and Ashleigh Black, her great-great-grandchild Braden Alcorn, and her Cuban family, Tania Fernandez, Vanessa, Alex and Lincoln Knagg, and Natalie, Rusty, and Sayla Simpson.
