Obituary

Algerene L. (AL) Clark, Jr., 89 and beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend of Denton, Texas went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 13, 2014. He was born on September 17, 1924, in Marshall, Texas to Algerene L. Clark, Sr. and Ota Pearl Rutland Clark. He was a high-school graduate of Mt. Vernon, Texas. He married his high-school sweetheart, Betty Hasty, in a home wedding in Mt. Vernon, Texas on May 28, 1944. He worked for Sears as Divisional Manager of Appliances for 27 years and upon retirement as a long-time favorite crossing guard for Newton Rayzor Elementary. He was an active member of Highland Baptist Church.

His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2014, at 11:00am at Highland Baptist Church, 600 Thomas Street, in Denton. The graveside service will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.

AL is survived by his wife, Betty; daughters, Linda Barrett and husband Rick of Denton, Texas, Carolyn Thomson and husband Bruce of Denton, Texas; siblings, Virginia (Pinkie) Morgan of Hilham, Tennessee, Joe Clark of San Antonio, Texas, Ray Clark of Richardson, Texas, and Jerry Clark of Gatesville, Texas; one grandchild, Sarah Thomson-Heinrich and husband Stefan of Tornoto, Canada; four great-grandchildren, Jessica Barrett, David Barrett and Isaac Barrett all of Denton, Texas and Eva Heinrich of Toronto, Canada and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, his grandson, Kevin Barrett of Denton, Texas; siblings Nan Stegall of Tyler, Texas, Walter Clark of Gatesville, Texas, Bobby Clark of Derby, Kansas, and Jesse Clark of Lone Star, Texas; and nephew Jerry Clark of Gatesville, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Youth Group of Highland Baptist Church, 600 Thomas Street in Denton.
