Obituary

Aleen Elizabeth Kretzschmar leaped from this life into the arms of her Father God and is now walking on streets paved with gold. This woman of God is aptly described by Proverbs 31: ( Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her. Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all. Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.) She loved her God and ensured her family was introduced to Him. Aleen was born September 16, 1926 in Thackerville, Love County, Oklahoma and passed away at her home in Lewisville, Texas on November 11, 2006. She was the fourth of eleven children born to Paul Ellery Shaffer and Elsie Glee Sims of Thackerville, Oklahoma. Aleen and her future hasband, Sam, grew-up together in Love County, Oklahoma. They married July 2, 1947 in Gainesville, Texas and moved to Lewisville in 1954 where they lived until retiring back to Oklahoma in 1991. In 1999 they returned to Lewisville. Aleen was a stay at home mom who lovingly cared for her husband, children and grand children. Aleen was preceeded in death by her parents: Paul Shaffer and Elsie Sims Shaffer; 3 brothers: Paul Ellery (Jack) Shaffer, Jr , Rolland Ellery Shaffer, and Gayland Shaffer; and 5 sisters: Rayma Lafaun Christensen, Sharon Cain, Hilda Webster, Hazel Nehib, and Gwen Rueda.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years: Sam Kretzschmar; 3 daughters Sheryl Knight, Susan Johnson, and Sharlene Cantrell of Lewisville; a son Sam Kretzschmar, Jr of Melbourne, Florida; a sister, Joan Miles of Thackerville, OK; a brother, Dan Shaffer of Tacoma, Washington; 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. We will miss her very much but she told her family with assurance, "I will meet you at the gates of heaven—the place she referred to as HOME."

A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 15, 2006 at the Grace Community Assembly of God in Flower Mound. Interment followed in the New Rest Haven Cemetery in Gainesville. The family will received friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
