Adolphus Doyle Holder, 73, of Denton, died Tuesday October 23, 2007 at his home.
Dr. Holder was born on September 9, 1934 in Winnsboro, TX to Adolphus and Cora Ella (Reeves) Holder. He was married to Marion Ray St. Clair on May 29, 1959 in Beaumont, TX. He graduated from Colorado State University with a Ph.D. He served as a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He retired in 1997 as a professor of Education at the University of North Texas. He was a member of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans and the First Baptist Church in Denton
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday October 27, 2007 at Central Baptist Church, 2221 N. Carroll Blvd., Denton, TX. Interment will follow at 3:00 PM the same day at Harmony Cemetery, Winnsboro, TX. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM ,Friday, October 26.
Survivors include his wife, Marion Holder of Denton; daughter, Madeleine Bishop of Denton; sister, Wanda Saxon of Midland; grandchildren, Kelsey Bishop, Heath Bishop, both of Denton. He was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Holder.
