Obituary

Ada Dell Ennis,89, a resident of Denton Rehabilitation and Nursing Center died on Friday, October 13, 2006 after a lengthy illness. She had been a resident of Denton since 1958. Ada Dell King Ennis was born in Gulbust, TX to Newell Judson and Mary Ella (Allen) King on October 17, 1916. She was the middle child of 14 children. Ada Dell was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Melvin Lonnie Ennis, whom she married December 7, 1935 in Childess, TX, hedied May 5, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Owen King, Orville King, Mike King, Obert King and Oford King as well as one sister Evelyn Wyman Vaughn and a son-in-law Wayne Murdock of Nacogdoches, TX.
She is survived by a son and wife, Michael and Brenda Ennis of Stony, and a daughter Elaine Murdock of Nacogdoches. Grandchildren Julie Holley and husband Robert of Krum, Shawn Ennis and wife Carena of Denton, Susanne Myler and husband Wes of Lone Oak, and Shannon Murdock and wife Melanie of Houston. She is blessed by the survival of 10 great Grandchildren, Samantha Pippin, Chainey and Taylor Holley, of Krum, Joshua and Abilail Ennis of Denton, Ashley, Hayley and Bailey Myler, of Lone Oak, and Natalie and Sophia Murdock, of Houston. She dearly loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ada Dell is also survived by brothers, Glynn King and Neilson King, of Silverton, as well as Melvin King and Jim King of Cortez, Colorado. A sister, Ruth French of Ord, Nebraska also survived her. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and grandnephews.
Ada Dell was a member of First Baptist Church of Denton, and was an active member for many years until her health did not permit her to attend services. She attended Howard Payne University for one year (1951-1952) and her dream was to become a school teacher. She spent several years employed by Beall's Department Store in Denton. Leaving there to work until retirement from Voertman' s Book Store on the North Texas campus. She was an outastanding seamstress. Several pieces of her crochet and handmade quilts have been passed down to the younger generations of the family. Ada Dell loved plants and flowers and was a legend to nurse back to life many pants given up by other family members. She cared deeply about her family and was loved. She will be missed by all.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 12;00 P.M. Noon, Monday, October 16, 2006 at the Eakin Cemetery at Ponder, TX with Rev. Cliff Feeler, and Shawn Ennis, officiating. The family will be at Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son, Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton for visitation from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Sunday, October 15, 2006 Pallbearers will be Shawn Ennis, Shannon Murdock, Robert Holley and Wes Myler. Honorary pallbearers will be great grandsons Taylor Holley and Joshua Ennis. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Habitat for Humanity, 1721 N. Carroll Blvd, Denton, TX 76201.
